Reading: Colossians 3:13; Matthew 18:21-35
Devotional: "Just as the Lord forgave you, so you must also do." There's no escape clause, no exception for really bad offenses. This is perhaps the hardest command in Scripture because we want justice, we want them to understand the pain they caused, we want them to earn our forgiveness. But Paul adds those crucial words: "so you must also do." Forgiveness isn't about feelings; it's about obedience. It doesn't mean trusting someone who's proven untrustworthy or staying in harmful situations. It means releasing our right to vengeance and trusting God with justice. When we refuse to forgive, we're really saying God's forgiveness of us wasn't enough to cover their sin against us. Who do you need to forgive today? Not for them, but for your own freedom and obedience to Christ.
