The Permission to Be Angry

Reading: Job 10:1-7; 42:1-6
Devotional: Job didn't sugarcoat his pain. He expressed anger, bitterness, and confusion directly to God. "Why are you fighting me, God?" he demanded. Yet Job's story reveals something profound: expressing anger to God isn't the same as rejecting Him. The key is what comes next. Job eventually recognized God's sovereignty and wisdom exceeded his understanding. "Now my eye sees you," he declared, moving from anger to repentance and worship. You don't have to pretend everything is fine when it's not. God can handle your anger. But authentic faith requires humility to eventually say, "You're bigger than my understanding. I trust You even when I don't comprehend Your ways." Repentance transforms righteous anger into deeper intimacy with God.
Reflection Question: What anger are you holding onto that needs to be brought honestly before God and then released?
