Surrendering Your Anger to God's Compassion

Reading: Jonah 4:1-4; Ephesians 4:26-27, 31-32

Devotional:
Jonah's story ends with a question, not an answer. God asks, "Should I not have compassion?" and we never learn Jonah's response. Perhaps that's intentional—because now the question is directed at us. What are you angry about? Where have you decided God's mercy is misplaced? Who do you think deserves judgment more than grace? God's compassion extends to 120,000 people who "don't know their right hand from their left"—and to you in your confusion and rebellion. His question challenges our self-righteousness and small-heartedness. Today, you have the opportunity Jonah had: to release your anger, surrender your sense of deserving, and embrace God's lavish, incomprehensible mercy. The story doesn't have to end with bitterness. Choose compassion. Choose trust. Choose to align your heart with God's.

Reflection:
Write down one thing you're angry about and symbolically surrender it to God today. What would it look like to trust His compassion in this situation?
