Conquering the Spirit of Fear
Reading: 2 Timothy 1:7, Psalm 56:3-11, 1 John 4:18
Devotional:
Fear whispers that if people truly knew us, they would reject us. It keeps us hiding in the shadows, convinced our past disqualifies us from community. But God has not given us a spirit of fear—He's given us power, love, and self-discipline.
The fear of being discovered, of being hurt again, of disappointing others—these are chains the enemy uses to keep us isolated. Yet Scripture reminds us that perfect love casts out fear. When we trust in God rather than in people's opinions, we find freedom.
What can man do to you when you've placed your trust in Christ? They cannot take your soul or separate you from God's love. The shame you're hiding has already been covered by Jesus' blood.
Today, identify one fear keeping you from authentic community. Confess it to God and consider sharing it with a trusted believer. Freedom begins when we expose fear to the light.
