The Path to Exaltation

Reading: 1 Peter 5:5-7; James 4:6-10

Devotional:
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. This isn't just theological theory; it's practical reality. When we're prideful, we position ourselves against God's work in our lives. When we're humble, He lifts us up at the proper time. Notice that phrase—"the proper time." God doesn't exalt us when we demand it or think we deserve it. He lifts us when we're in the mire, when we've acknowledged our need, when we've stopped trying to save ourselves. Humility isn't thinking less of yourself; it's thinking of yourself less. It's quick repentance when you're wrong, ready acknowledgment of your limitations, and constant dependence on God's grace. Today, practice humility by admitting a mistake, asking for forgiveness, or serving someone without recognition. Let God do the exalting; you do the humbling.
