Growing Up in Christ

Reading: Hebrews 5:12-14; Ephesians 4:14-15
Devotional: The Christian life is not meant to plateau. Scripture consistently calls believers toward maturity -- away from spiritual infancy and toward the kind of faith that can discern good from evil, truth from deception. A baby cannot help its dependence. But a grown believer who remains in spiritual infancy does so by choice, often because maturity requires confronting things we would rather avoid. The church is not called to keep you comfortable. It is called to help you grow. Growth requires honest examination, willingness to be corrected, and a hunger for the Word of God that goes beyond Sunday morning. Maturity is not perfection -- it is persistent pursuit.
Reflection: In what ways have you remained spiritually immature because growth felt too costly or uncomfortable?
Practical Application: Commit to reading 1 John in its entirety this week. As you read, keep a journal of every verse that makes you uncomfortable. Those are likely the verses God most wants you to wrestle with.
