The Freedom That Comes After Surrender
Reading: Luke 9:23 and 1 John 1:9
Devotional: Denying yourself is not a punishment — it is a pathway. When Jesus calls us to deny ourselves and take up our cross daily, He is inviting us into a life that is far greater than anything our old desires could offer. Surrender is not loss. It is exchange. You give God what is destroying you, and He gives you what sustains you. First John reminds us that when we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive and to cleanse. That word cleanse means He does not leave you halfway. He goes all the way. Today, trust that what waits on the other side of surrender is not emptiness — it is Him.
Reflection Question: What has fear of the unknown kept you from surrendering to God? What might your life look like if you fully released it?
Practical Application: End this five-day plan by writing a letter to God. Name the sin, habit, or burden you have been holding onto. Confess it honestly. Then declare in writing that you are giving Him permission to remove it, trusting that He is faithful to complete what He begins in you.
