Laying Aside What Is Holding You Back
Reading: Ephesians 4:22-24
Devotional: Paul gives a clear and practical instruction: lay aside the old self, be renewed in your mind, and put on the new self. Notice that this is not passive. It requires deliberate action. You must choose to lay something down. The old self does not simply fall away on its own. The sin you have grown comfortable with, the habit you keep returning to, the wound you have used as justification — these must be actively surrendered. God is not asking you to be perfect before you begin. He is asking you to begin. Renewal starts the moment you take that first step toward surrender.
Reflection Question: What is one specific thing God has been prompting you to lay aside that you have been reluctant to release?
Practical Application: Spend ten minutes in quiet prayer today. Ask God to reveal one area where your mind needs renewal. Then find one verse that speaks truth into that area and commit it to memory this week.
