Three Temptations - Then and Now

Reading: Genesis 3:1-7; James 4:4-7

Devotional: The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are not modern inventions. They are ancient traps. In the garden, Satan did not arrive with obvious evil. He arrived with a question designed to make Eve doubt what God had clearly said. The same strategy is at work today. The enemy repackages the same three temptations in new forms — streaming platforms, social media, financial ambition, and self-reliance. James makes clear that friendship with the world is enmity with God. Resistance begins with submission. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.

Reflection: Which of the three — lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, or pride of life — is your greatest point of vulnerability?

Application: Identify one specific temptation you face regularly. Pray over it daily this week, asking God for both awareness and strength to resist it.
