You Are Invited

Reading: Luke 14:15-23 -- In this passage, Jesus tells a parable about a great banquet where the host sends his servant to invite many guests, only to have them make excuses. The host then commands his servant to go into the streets and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame -- anyone willing to come.

Devotional: The table Jesus sets is not reserved for the polished or the put-together. He walks past the respectable and points to the ones others overlook, the ones society has written off, and says, "You. Come." This is not a table that requires a dress code or a clean record. It requires only a willingness to come. Consider the areas of your life where you have felt disqualified from God's presence. Those are precisely the areas where his invitation is loudest. He sees everything about you and still extends his hand. Will you accept the invitation today?

Reflection: What excuses have you been making that are keeping you from fully accepting God's invitation into relationship with him?

Practical Application: Identify one person in your life who may feel overlooked or unworthy. Extend a genuine act of kindness or invitation to them this week as a reflection of the table God has set for you.
