Daily Devotion 08/17/26

Reading: Luke 5:27-32 — Jesus calls Levi, a despised tax collector, to follow him, then dines with sinners, declaring that he came not for the righteous but for those who know they are broken and in need of a Savior.
Devotional: The invitation Jesus extended to Levi was not conditional on Levi first cleaning up his life. Jesus looked directly at a man the entire religious community had written off and said simply, follow me. That same invitation stands for you today. No matter what you have traded away, no matter what choices have left you feeling disqualified, Jesus gazes at you with intention and calls you toward him. The table is already set. Your seat is already waiting. You do not need to arrive repaired. You only need to arrive.
Reflection Questions:

• In what areas of your life have you felt too broken or unworthy to approach God?
• What would it mean for you to simply respond to Jesus' invitation today, without conditions?

Practical Application: Write down one thing you have been holding back from God because you felt ashamed. Bring it to him in prayer today, trusting that his invitation is real and his welcome is genuine.
