The Courage to Obey

Reading: Luke 22:39-46; Philippians 2:5-11
Devotional: In Gethsemane, Jesus showed us what courageous obedience looks like. His human nature recoiled from the suffering ahead, yet He surrendered: "Not my will, but yours be done." Obedience isn't always easy—it requires courage to go against our instincts, the world's ways, and even our own desires. It demands sacrifice: time, comfort, old habits, and sometimes relationships. Jesus sacrificed everything, modeling complete surrender to the Father's plan. Following Christ means we too must become willing vessels, ready to serve even when it's uncomfortable. Whether it's praying for a stranger in a parking lot or giving up something that separates us from God, obedience requires stepping out in faith. What is God asking you to surrender today? Find courage in knowing that the same God who strengthened Jesus will strengthen you.
