God's Sovereignty in Your Disappointments

Reading: Psalm 103:19; Proverbs 19:21

Devotional:
Sometimes God closes doors we desperately wanted to walk through. Like the story of the denied K-9 position, our disappointments often mask God's better plans. We get angry, threaten to quit, or question God's goodness—all while He's positioning us for something greater. God's sovereignty means He has the right to redirect your path, even when you've worked hard and feel deserving. But His sovereignty is always partnered with His love. He isn't withholding good things arbitrarily; He's protecting you from what would ultimately harm you and preparing you for what He's already ordained. The job you didn't get, the relationship that ended, the opportunity that fell through—these aren't punishments. They're divine interventions steering you toward His perfect will.

Reflection:
Can you identify a past disappointment that God later revealed as His protection or provision?
