Devotional:
True freedom is not freedom from desires by choice, but freedom from being enslaved to our desires. There's a profound difference. In your own strength, you might resist temptation for days or months, but the craving remains, lurking beneath the surface. You're still a slave, just one who's temporarily resisting the master. But when Christ sets you free, He transforms your heart. What once enticed you begins to repel you. The things you couldn't imagine living without lose their grip. This is the freedom Jesus promises—not just behavior modification, but heart transformation. Are you still white-knuckling your way through obedience, or have you experienced the freedom of actually not wanting your old life anymore?
